PACS - DR/CR
See It & Store It
PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) is an imaging support technology that provides storage and access to images from multiple imaging modalities.
The PACS transmits the digital images and reports. This eliminates the need to manually file, retrieve, or transport images. Through the use of the internet, PACS has the ability to deliver timely and efficient access to images, interpretations, and related data.
The PACS consists of 4 major components:
- Imaging modalities such as x-ray, CT and MRI.
- A secured network for the transmission of patient information.
- Workstations for reviewing images.
- Archives for the storage and retrieval of images and reports.
